When Israel does not regard them as settlements because it annexed east Jerusalem after capturing the area in 1967.
So Israel captured East Jerusalem when they were attacked from that territory. So now East Jerusalem belongs to Israel.
2. So whats the beef about Jews living in East Jerusalem?
On Sunday, Netanyahu told his Cabinet there would be no limits on Jewish construction anywhere in "unified Jerusalem."
"We cannot accept the fact that Jews wouldn’t be entitled to live and buy anywhere in Jerusalem," Netanyahu declared, calling Israeli sovereignty over the entire city "indisputable."
"I can only imagine what would happen if someone suggested Jews could not live in certain neighborhoods in New York, London, Paris or Rome. There would certainly be a major international outcry," Netanyahu said.

I couldn’t give a flying f*ck where your lord thinks my tax dollars should be spent. keep the bible out of politics..we have freedom of religion in this country and we should not legislate according to a book that preys off childrens fears of some "rapture" (which is not even mentioned in the bible) happening by the year 2012.

Edit: NeoNerd, according to what? if you say international law, then tell me why its not a binding matter. International law is completely voluntary, as all non binding UN resolutions are as well.

Simply - Israel does not legally occupy East Jerusalem. Taking ti against international law does not allow the occupier to legally seize land to build settlements on it.

Even Israel does NOT regard it as annexed-Israel approached the UN over two dozen times and it has been vetoed EVERY time-Arab East Jerusalem Is recognized by the whole world and the UN as NOT annexed and that it belongs to the Arab West Bank-what would you do if a large gang came to your property and you were defenseless-they take your property(no enumeration) and wall you off from it-those are the facts, God’s promise or not-Israel refuses?
