why the cleavage between religious and secular is deepening in Israel ?
@esc: it would be unwise to compare Israel to the arab countries,
we all know that corruption, fanaticism, dictatorship and brainwashing reign supreme in all the arab countries because of religion, i m afraid that Israel might suffer also from religion and engage itself on a similar slope;
for example: many young people in Israel seek to become religous in order to avoid the military service (believing that is G..od who’s protecting Israel and not the IDF …)
edit: … to compare Israel to "muslim" coutries

The Zionist state was never religious.
Always based on criminal views, apartheid and segregation.
don’t lose your time to find out who they think.
And where exactly is this cleavage in 57 Muslim states, where religion IS the state?
Edit - Political Judaism would be extremely unpopular in Israel. The average Israeli wouldn’t think twice about refusing a law banning marriage between Jews and non-Jews, for example. The only hardline Jewish party is Kach, and it’s been banned for years. Jewish parties are mostly popular for their anti-Arab rhetoric.
Are you a Lebanese Christian?
Many young people in Israel seek to become religious in order to avoid military service because they are cowards and want to party. G-d does protect Israel, but not by these hypocrites praying all day in Yeshiva because they don’t want to serve in the IDF.
There are also many religious Israelis who serve in the IDF and they are the most motivated fighters.
What do you think the Chaplin’s job is in the U.S. military? To motivate the fighting force to do their duty based on a Judeo-Christian doctrine.
Religion is used as a motivating force for the soldier/terrorist to do their duty. If they were told the real reasons that they were fighting (economic gain), you would have a hard time getting volunteers.
There has always been a schism between the religious and secular factions in Israel, and there always will be.
